Oceanklass Solutions Limited, in collaboration with Greenspan Concepts Limited, is executing the Sectioning for Leak Search and Sectional Replacement Project along the 10-inch Egbema West Delivery Line Right-of-Way. The project is aimed at identifying and addressing pipeline integrity concerns through systematic leak detection, replacement of affected pipeline sections, non-destructive testing, recoating, and restoration activities.

The project forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of hydrocarbons while maintaining compliance with industry standards and operational requirements. Through the deployment of experienced personnel and specialized equipment, the project supports asset integrity management and operational continuity.

Working Process

Significant progress has been achieved on the project, including the completion of manual bush clearing within the manifold area, successful execution of weld surface preparation, completion of Wet MPI inspections, and radiographic testing of welded joints. Mechanical backfilling activities are also advancing steadily, contributing to the overall restoration of the work site.

The project team mobilized personnel, equipment, and materials to the work location. Daily toolbox meetings were conducted to communicate work objectives, identify potential hazards, and implement appropriate control measures before commencement of operations.

Following the sectional replacement activities, welded joints were subjected to surface cleaning to remove contaminants and prepare them for inspection. Final Non-Destructive Testing (Wet Magnetic Particle Inspection) and radiographic examinations were carried out to verify weld quality and ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards.

Mechanical Backfilling and Site Restoration

Upon successful completion of inspection activities, mechanical backfilling of the excavated ditch commenced using excavators. A total of 186 meters of ditch was backfilled while efforts continued to restore the work area to acceptable conditions.

The next phase of the project includes the application of protective coatings, holiday detection testing, and completion of backfilling operations. These activities are essential for safeguarding the repaired pipeline against corrosion and ensuring long-term operational reliability.
